Showing employees that you, as a company, care about their well-being can create a dramatic increase in employee engagement and worker satisfaction. What better gift than offering an opportunity to connect and a first step towards total wellness?
Health concerns at the workplace are increasing rapidly in North America, from obesity to cardiovascular diseases to depression. Canadian companies are facing a record-breaking number of absences, extended medical-related leaves and hospitalization of their employees. All of these, for conditions that are preventable by healthy fitness levels and proper stress management.
Healthy employees means: stable and improved productivity, better control over your insurance costs and a better engaged workforce with lower turnover.
Employee surveys and the leading employers of Canada all point to one solution: increase opportunities for employees to become healthier by showing that the company is engaged in their well-being.

SUSTAINABLE YOGA FOR LONG-TERM HAPPINESS
My approach to teaching yoga is advocating Sustainable Yoga for Long-term Happiness or SuYoLoH, for short. This means that whether it’s Ashtanga Primary Series or a Slow Flow practice, I offer a ton of variations and strongly encourage students to customize their pace and postures according to their individual and immediate needs.
Our energy level fluctuates with the seasons, weather, time of day, our moods, and with our natural hormonal cycles. Why then should we force ourselves to practice the same way everyday? I believe that we experience Long-term Happiness when we allow ourselves to rest when we’re tired, let go when we’re frustrated, and celebrate when we’re excited. When we practicing the art of SuYoLoH, not only do we prevent injuries and sustain interest, it empowers us to respond to our unique and ever-changing needs.
TYPES OF YOGA I REGULARLY TEACH
Ashtanga Yoga is the original “Power Yoga” practice. This popular class is a powerful sequence of postures from the traditional Primary and Intermediate Series of Ashtanga yoga. In Sanskrit, “Ashtanga Yoga” literally means “eight-limbed yoga.” The asana or physical posture component of the eight-limb path is a vigorous path of connecting your breath and movement within in a set series. Experienced yogis with an understanding of the basic postures will feel comfortable in this dynamic class that develops strength and concentration, and makes you sweat.
Derived from the Ashtanga yoga tradition, Vinyasa yoga is dynamic and flowing and postures are held for approximately of five breaths. Generally, this style involves constant rhythmic movement and an energetic approach with the use of “flows” throughout. This is a challenging class that builds strength as well as flexibility and offers a relaxation at the end of the practice.
Meditation + Breathing Exercises
Meditation is the art and practice of creating stillness amongst the chaos of our daily thoughts and experiences. With simple instructions, anyone can do this. No special skill set is required. The emphasis of this non-denominational, guided meditation class is on observing the various aspects of our being through our breath—physical body, thought patterns, emotions, energy flow and the heart’s desire. Specific focusing exercises (pranayama breath work, mantra, visualizations, etc.) are offered to help participants improve concentration, stimulate energy, and reduce anxiety.
Slow Flow Yoga
Slow Flow Yoga is pleasurable, often candle-lit practice that focuses on a different theme each class. From hips to heart, the concept of this class is to bring profound awareness to specific parts of the body and mind. The movements are slow and fluid so as to facilitate the release of tension while increasing mobility, coordination and balance. The class ends with restorative postures, breathing exercises, deep relaxation. All levels welcome.
